The 67th TAFCA AGM & Trophy presentations took place on Tuesday 24th May at the St.Peters Church Hall, St.Peters Street, Dundee, 7:30pm.

TAFCA (Tayside and Fife Chess Association) are responsible for organising and running chess in the Tayside and Fife areas, including leagues, knockout and singles tournaments.

All the winners for 2015/16 season were presented with their trophies on the night by TAFCA President Alan Borwell. Dundee Chess Club had a night to remember taking most of the trophies on the night! Dundee A took the division one title for the third year in a row! While Dundee C won the second division! To top it off Dr David Findlay of Dundee Chess Club defended his J.R.Chalmers Grand Prix Memorial title to make it a triple whammy for Dundee Chess Club! St.Andrews Uni took the Knockout title and Andrew Ward of St.Andrews took the TAFCA Allegro (quick-play chess) title against all the odds!

TAFCA`s top junior player was Euan Dawson (J14) of Castlehill Chess Club Dundee who had a great year. Not only did he win this title, but also the Chess Scotland Nancy Elder knockout cup, beating the top seed along the way and another Castlehill player in the final! This Cup is open to all players in Scotland and was a fantastic achievement by the young man! 🙂
